HOWEVER, in the WPA death index, Martin Banicka is listed as having died on 4 Oct 1910 in South Bend. Unfortunately, I couldn't find his obit, either. The family lived at 613 S. Walnut. The 549 S. Walnut address did not exist at that time. Addresses went from 523 to 603 S. Walnut. Attached is 1900 and 1910 Censuses.

Notes for MARTIN BANICKI, SR.:
Word of mouth by family
claims that Martin's father was a tinkerer in
Bydgoszsz and travelled from village to village
repairing and sharpening tools.
According to family lore, Martin Banicki did have a
step-brother who supposedly had red hair and whose
descendents settled in the area around S. B. Whenever
a question of close relatioinship came up, the old
folks said that if the people in question were
"czerwone" Banickis, then they were close relatives.
("czerwone" means red.) The many Banickis living in
South Bend are descendents of distant cousins.
Peter's first cousin, Ollie Banicki, settled in
Milwaukee, WI, and I (my uncle) think some family
descendents are still there.
