SOUTH BEND - Dorothy H. Cichowicz, 84, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, in Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born on November 5, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Zygmunt and Marie (Nowicki) Gorney. She married Chester Cichowicz in South Bend, who preceded her in death as well as two nieces, Cynthia Walorski and Connie Makowski. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Cichowicz and Ronald Cichowicz, both of South Bend; grandson, Timothy Cichowicz of South Bend; sister, Rita (Marion) Makowski of South Bend; brother, Richard (Judy) Gorney of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Wanda Fujawa of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy spent her life dedicated to taking care of her family. She loved traveling, shopping and having lunch once a week at Old Country Buffet with her sister. Her favorite pastime was playing cards and dice with her grandson, Tim. Dorothy was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. She will truly be missed by all her family and friends. May her soul rest in peace. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend.
