SOUTH BEND - Dennis A. Cichowicz, 67, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in the Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Dennis was born March 4, 1947, in South Bend, to the late Chester and Dorothy (Gorney) Cichowicz. He is survived by his son, Tim Cichowicz of South Bend; a brother, Ronald Cichowicz of South Bend; aunt, Rita (Marion) Makowski of South Bend; uncle, Richard (Judy) Gorney of South Bend; and many cousins. Dennis honorably served his country for 24 years in the United States Navy and Reserves during Vietnam and Desert Storm. He retired April 1, 2002, from the U.S. Post Office where he was a postman for many years. Dennis was a parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church, and he was a member of the American Legion Post #357. Dennis enjoyed fishing, bowling, Naval ship reunions, and traveling, especially to Florida. A Memorial Gathering for Dennis will be 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Saturday, August 23, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Memorial Service will be celebrated at 5:00 pm in the funeral home.
