Marie C. Gorney, 78, of 4510 W. Washington St., died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Josephs Medical Center. Mrs. Gorney had retired from the Morris Inn. She was born Feb. 17, 1908, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On Jan. 19, 1926, in South Bend, as Marie Nowicki, she married Zygmunt Gorney. He died July 15, 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Cichowicz and Rita Makowski, both of South Bend; a son, Richard, of South Bend; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lottie Niezgodski and Stella Otolski, both of South Bend; and two brothers, Alex Nowicki and Casimer Nowicki, both of South Bend. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Adalberts Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the St. Joseph Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. She was a member of the Rosary Sodality of the church
