SOUTH BEND - Harriet D. Klawinski, 104, died on Friday. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Alice Chmielowiec of South Bend; Sr. Francesca, OSF of St. Louis, MO; one son, Thomas (Jackie) Klawinski of Granger; and one brother, Arthur Pine of South Bend, IN. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. SOUTH BEND - Harriet D. Klawinski, 104, formerly of West Catalpa Street in Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2010, at her home in South Bend, IN. She was born on June 27, 1905, to the late Joseph and Stella (Kaczmarek) Pianowski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents two sisters, Martha Wozniak and Alice Pluta, and two brothers, Joseph and Raymond Pianowski, also preceded her in death. Harriet was a homemaker and also a secretary for the University of Notre Dame Theology Department. On November 6, 1929, as Harriet Pianowski, she married Henry Klawinski at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He died on April 30, 1986. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Alice Chmielowiec of South Bend, IN, and Sr. Francesca, OSF, of St. Louis, MO; one son, Thomas (Jackie) Klawinski of Granger, IN; five grandchildren, James Mellowitz, Dave Chmielowiec, Therese Blacketor, Myra Sweeney and Keith Klawinski; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arthur Pine of South Bend, IN. Mrs. Klawinski was a member of St. Hedwig Parish where she belonged to the Rosary Society and Golden Cluster Group. She was also a member of the former Civic Club and the former Associates of St. Joseph. The family acknowledges with gratitude the dedicated care of Doctors Janet Galanes, M.D., and Michelle Migliore, D.O., as well as the loving care given by Sonja Wilson and the entire Hospice staff. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, with Rev. Leonard F. Chrobot officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Sisters, OLPH, 335 S. Kirkwood Road, St. Louis, MO 63122; St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 S.
