South Bend - Lorraine T Zielinski, 90, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, July 16, 2021. Lorraine was born May 27, 1931 in South Bend, to the late Henry and Mamie (Morence) Walker. On September 4, 1954 Lorraine married Raymond Zielinski, he preceded her in death on February 21, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Julyan Parmelee; brother, Harry Chodzinski; sisters, Alice (Stanley) Pauszek, Gloria (Don) Chlebek and brother-in-law, Clem (Butch) Szczypiorski. Left to cherish the memory of Lorraine are her children, June (Jim) Rhodes, Larry Zielinski (Amanda), Ron Zielinski, Lee Ann (Mark) Fokey; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Dawn) Parmelee, Jessica Parmelee, James (Chelsey) Parmelee, Erin (Greg) Zielinski, Celeste Zielinski, Adam Zielinski, Katlyn Murray, Cassandra Grounds, Cory Lynn Thomas, Nicole (Jim) Young, Heather Zielinski; great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Thomas) Klopfenstein, Danielle Thompson, Geoffrey Brown, Kyla Wesson, Kynzie Parmelee, Vincent Horner, Payton Horner, Ethan Horner, Veronica Horner, Tony, Ariana, Emma, Mason, Jenna, Devin, Kendall, Jace, Case, Everett, Graceson; great-great-grandchild, Maia Jordan Klopfenstein; and a sister, Irene Szczypiorski. Also, many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was a parishioner of Holy Family Church, a member of the Z.B. Falcons, and West Side Conservation Club. She enjoyed crocheting, bus trips, tailgating and Notre Dame games. She was known for saying "Whatcha call" , "Set three out on the counter and let em warm up", and “Road trip" meaning she wanted to go out to her daughter’s bar to have a drink and sandwich. Also, Lorraine enjoyed listening to the blues and watching Nascar with her son on the weekend. A special thank you to Lorraine’s nurse, Tammy and her aid, Jessica for a wonderful job taking care of Mom on her last days. Visitation for Lorraine will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2021 with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:30 pm in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. There will also be visitation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 11:00 am in Holy Family Catholic Church. A Graveside Service will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, Indiana 46619.
