August 2025 Program: The Works Progress Administration (WPA) In Indiana with Glory-June Grieff
On Monday, August 24, 2025, the South Bend Area Genealogical Society featured a presentation by Glory-June Grieff on the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in Indiana.
Established by President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1935, the WPA provided unemployed workers with jobs for eight years, giving support to 25 percent of American families. The WPA also indexed a large part of the birth, marriage and death records of many of Indiana’s 92 counties.
Glory is a broadcaster, environmentalist, architectural preservationist, historian, musician, chanteuse, film maker, women’s activist, actor and interpreter, explorer, animal lover, poet, author, and stimulating conversationalist, among other things.
