Mishawaka - Alphonse R. "Sharkey" Schelstraete, 67, of South Union Street, died at 8:52 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, of natural cuses. Mr. Schelstraete retired in 1983 from the Dodge Manufacturing Division of Reliance Electric Co. after 18 years of service. He was born June 21, 1927, in New Carlisle and was a lifelog area resident. On Feb. 26. 1949, in Madison Twp., he married Marie Seiner. She survives with four daughters, Jeanette Snyder, Pat Scott, Laura Clayton, and Carolyn Carnell, all of Mishawaka; a son, Marcel of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, George of Mishawaka. He was a Veteran of the Army.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
