Mishawaka - Alphonse M. "Tec" Vanderbeke, 81, of West Seventh Street, died at 4:26 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, of natural causes. Mr. Vanderbeke retired in 1978 from Wheelbrator-Frye Corp. after 23 years. He was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Wulbergem Belgium, and lived in Mishawaka since 1920, coming from Belgium. On June 28, 1841, in Mishawaka, he married Victorine L. Van Hoecke. She survives with two daughters, Patricia L. Naylor of Los Angles and Linda M. Turner of San Diego; as son Joseph C. of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and a brother, Gerard of Mishawaka. He was a member of B.K. Club, B.K. Bowlers, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360 and St. Bavo's Catholic Church., and was a veteran of World War II. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Hahn Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
