MISHAWAKA - Ervin J. Sobecki, 83, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012, in his home. Ervin was born on August 30, 1928, in South Bend, to Joseph and Anna (Wendowski) Sobecki. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Ted Kopszynski; a sister, Eleanor Mrozinski; and three brothers-in-law, Leo Mrozinski, Robert De Weirdtz and Ed De Wispeleare. On June 5, 1954, in South Bend, he married Audrey DeWeirdt. Surviving are his loving wife, Audrey; two sons, Ronald (Donna) Sobecki of New Palestine, IN, and Kirk (Deanna) Sobecki of Bremen; grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, Emily, Nicholas and Christopher. Ervin worked in accounting as a supervisor for 22 years at Associates and as a claims deputy for Indiana Work Force Development for 16 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, PNA # 83, BK Club, St. Joseph Young Men Society and the Mishawaka Eagles. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 5th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made in Ervin's name, to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
