Richard P. Winkel Feb. 27, 1935 - Dec. 29, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Richard P. Winkel, 79, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Richard was born February 27, 1935 in South Bend to the late Leo and Felice (Stefanski) Winkel. Richard is also preceded in death by a baby sister, MaryAnn, brother, Donald Winkel, brother-in-law, Gene Nowicki and a great-granddaughter, Tarin Bowering. Richard married his loving and dedicated wife on May 11, 1957, MaryAnn Nowicki; she survives along with their children, Debra (David) James and Mark (Danielle) Winkel; sister, Alvina (Donald) Helak, sister-in-law, Janet Nowicki, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a soon to arrive great-great granddaughter. Richard was an Optician for C & B Optical and then retired in 1999 from Claey's Candy. He enjoyed golfing, and watching western movies. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Funeral Service being held at 3:00 pm. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
