ELKHART -- George D. Vida, 76, Atlantic Avenue, was fatally injured in a traffic accident Thursday (Dec. 13, 2001) in Granger. He was born on Dec. 1, 1925, in Bertrand, Mich., to Joseph and Helena (Szetiga). He married his first wife, Evelyn, in 1947. On July 25, 1970, he married Gena G. Love. She survives with his two sons, Wayne (Joyce Ullery) Vida of South Bend and Dane (Sally) Vida of Mishawaka; three stepdaughters, Karen Love Blume of Mishawaka, Kristine Love VanBelleghem of South Bend and Mrs. Craig (Beverly) Pryor of Cottage Grove, Ore.; one stepson, James (Suzanne) Love of Edwardsburg; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Rolla, Eppie and Helene, and four brothers, John, Joe, Mike and Louie. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in South Bend, where the service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. John Hall, pastor of Willow Creek United Methodist Church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
