EDWARDSBURG - Joseph Andert, 91, long time resident of Edwardsburg, MI died April 12, 2015. Joe was born May 4, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana the son of Joseph Andert, Sr. and Theresa (Vascil) Andert. During World War II, Joe served in the European Theater of Operation and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning home he worked for 23 years with Studebaker Corporation in South Bend until 1963. He was then employed at Buchanan Steel Products until his retirement in 1985. Joe was an avid bowler at the German Club DFV in South Bend. He was a life-long photography enthusiast. He collected rocks & gems and was an early member of the Michiana Rock and Gem Club, where he served as an officer. Joe was an avid hobbyist and collector. Joe Andert married Cyrilla Martin on September 6, 1952 at Our Lady of Hungary Church in South Bend. Cyrilla preceded Joe in death. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Surviving children are Thomas (Sandra) Andert of Stevensville, Jane (Terry) Clarke of St. Johns, David (Kathlyn) Andert of South Bend, Brian (Daphne) Andert of Kokomo and five grandchildren; Elizabeth (Clarke) Kelley, William Andert, Christina (Clarke) Herzberg, Katherine Andert, and Robert Andert. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:30 to Noon at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St. (US-12), Edwardsburg, MI, where a time of Remembrance will follow visitation. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorials may be given in Joe's honor to a charity of the donor's choice . Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, MI. Published in South Bend Tribune on Apr. 15, 2015
