EDWARDSBURG - Cyrilla "Cy" J. Andert, 85 years old, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest March 3, 2013, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Mishawaka, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 29, 1927, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Maynard L. and Margueite (Anderson) Martin. She grew up in the Lydick area and moved to Edwardsburg about 56 years ago. Cy was formerly employed by Travelers Insurance in South Bend, and she retired from the Edwardsburg School system, working in the cafeteria. She was a member of Modern Moms, a club in Edwardsburg, & enjoyed doing her crafts, such as sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her pride was her garden, which she liked to plant and then have the harvest of not only eating the fresh vegetables but also canning the extras for table use. Being a gardener enabled her to be a masterful cook in the kitchen for her family. She was married Sept. 6, 1952, in South Bend, at Our Lady of Hungary Church, as Cyrilla Jane Martin, to Joseph H. Andert, who survives with their children, Thomas (Sandra) Andert of Stevensville, MI, Jane (Terry) Clarke of St. Johns, MI, David (Kathlyn) Andert of South Bend, and Brian Andert and friend, Daphne Johnson, both of Kokomo, IN. There are five grandchildren and one sister, Ila Davis of South Bend. Family who have passed are her parents, a sister, Rita Snider, and a brother, Richard Martin. Family and friends may gather on Friday, March 8, 2013, from noon to 1:00 PM at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street, Edwardsburg, where a Service of Remembrance will begin at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Lauren Hall, pastor of Southlawn United Methodist Church, officiating.
