Services for Mrs. Verna Barts, 84, of 1125 N. College who died at 9:45 a.m. Friday in her home after a sudden illness will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. William Neidhart, C.S.C., pastor of Little Flower Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. She had been employed by Sobinite Plastic Co., retiring in 1951. She was born on Jan. 22, 1899, in Rolling Prairie, and lived in the South Bend area most of her life. On Oct. 27, 1928, in South Bend, she married Harry E. Barts, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Michael J. of Lake Geneva, Wis.; a granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Mrs. Agnes Thomas of Elkhart. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church and Senior Citizens and Harvest House of Holy Cross.
