September 9, 1919 - August 17, 2010
Former South Bend resident Anne Soens, 90, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in Eastlake Nursing and Rehab Center, after a long illness, surrounded by her family. Anne was born September 9, 1919 in South Bend to the late Nicholas and Julia (Kuzmic) Zubrits. On May 9, 1942 in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church she married Clarence (C.A.) Soens who preceded her in death January 25, 1992. Also preceding her in death were her three sisters, Julia Zubrits, Helen Yandl, and Goldie Lane. Anne worked at Wilson Brothers in South Bend until she moved to South Carolina where her husband was stationed during WWII. They resided for a while in Marcellus, MI where she was a member of the women's society of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. They later moved back to Granger to be closer to their family. Anne is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bob) Kyle of Granger; two grandsons, David (Betsy) Kyle and Daniel (Becki) Kyle; three great grandchildren, Zachary, Maggie and Lucy Kyle; and several nieces and nephews. Anne was a loving and giving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially loved visits from her great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21st in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. The family will greet friends in the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. The family wishes to thank Eastlake and all those who took such loving care of Anne, with special and grateful thanks to her hospice care providers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Pius X Church, 52553 Fir Rd., Granger, IN, 46530 or the Center for Hospice Care, 11 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN, 46637. The Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. is handling arrangements. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
