SOUTH BEND - Darlene Ethel Lenczewski, 76, residing in South Bend, passed away at 10:45 PM Friday, January 2, 2015 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Darlene was born on October 15, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Elvin Louis and Ethel R. (Jones) Bertram and has lived in the South Bend area since 1964, coming from Milwaukee, WI. On May 4, 1957 in Milwaukee, she was united in marriage to Joseph V. Lenczewski, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2012. Darlene cherished her role as a homemaker and was the rock of the family; with little means, mom could always make something for her family from little. In her 50's she earned her Associates Degree from Ivy Tech, of which she and her family were proud. She was a member of Saint Casimir Catholic Church, South Bend. Darlene is survived by seven children, Sandra (Dan) Weaver of Mishawaka, Michael (Brenda) Lenczewski of South Bend, Carrie (Richard) Stanton of Port Charlotte, FL, Dawn (Ron Hicks) Lenczewski of Union Mills, IN, Lisa (Jay) Linner of Mishawaka, Laura (Danny) Szabo of South Bend and John (Jennifer Williams) Lenczewski of South Bend; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Swendrowski; and brothers, Richard Bertram, Lawrence Bertram and Jeffrey Bertram all of Milwaukee. Darlene was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bertram. Graveside services for Darlene will be held at a later date at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home River Park and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory of Darlene E.
