SOUTH BEND - Joan M. Rozycki, 79, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2011, in the Milton Home. Joan was born on May 22, 1932, in South Bend, to the late John J. and Eugenia P. (Milostan) Gapczynski. On June 24, 1979, she married Eugene A. Rozycki, who preceded her in death on December 14, 2009. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marian Rozycki of South Bend; two grandchildren, Dr. Todd (Nicole Brunette, M.D.) Rozycki of South Bend and Garin (Tina) Rozycki of Yuma, AZ; two great-granddaughters, Sophia and Lily Rozycki; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Jesse Rozycki; sister, Anne Gapczynski; two brothers, Norbert (Mary) Gapczynski of South Bend and Peter (Nellie) Gapczynski of South Bend; and by two nieces, Gretchen (Jim) Pfeil of South Bend and Beth Ann Gapczynski of South Bend. Joan graduated from South Bend Catholic High School. She worked for Public Finance and Northern Indiana Wholesale Grocery. She was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, where she was the Organist and Choir Director for over 33 years; she also volunteered there for dinners and festivals. She was a member of Polish Women's Alliance, Polish Roman Catholic Union, Polish Falcons of America MR Falcons Nest 4. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph High School Building Fund, 1441 North Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614; to St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 S. Scott St., South Bend, IN 46601; or to the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 3, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church.
