Henry J. "Spike" Wozniak, 77, of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2002, in his home. Mr. Wozniak was born on January 10, 1925, in South Bend, to Henry T. and Anna (Kwiatek) Wozniak, who both preceded him in death. He retired in 1980 after 34 years as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. On September 10, 1949, he married Evelyn C. Niemier, who preceded him in death in 1989. On September 21, 2001, he married Malvina A. Podlewski, who survives. Also surviving are his three sons, Michael (Susan) Wozniak of. Mishawaka, IN, Leonard Wozniak of Mishawaka, IN, and David (Carol) Wozniak of Granger, IN: his stepdaughter, Lynn (Robert) Brinkman of Collegeville, PA: seven grandchildren, Ryan; Jason. Anthony, Andrew, Robert and Alayna Wozniak, and Jillian (Stephen) Boerstler; his stepgrandson, Kipp (Holly) Podlewski of Waukesha, WI; his two step-greatgrandchildren, Zachary and Riley Podlewski; his brother, Raymond (June) Wozniak of North Riverside, IL: his brother-in-law. Eugene Grayckowski, and his sister-in-law. Loretta (Robert) Kwiatkowski, both of South Bend, IN; and by several cousins, nieces and nephews. . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm. Wednesday, November 27, 2002, in St. Anthony de Padua Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. . Mr. Wozniak was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Parish and a former longtime member of St. Stanislaus Parish. He was a W.W Il Army veteran, receiving several awards including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was the past Commander and current Chaplain of the V.F.W. Golden Hill Post #8748, and a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #39.
