[N466] Sept. 15, 1915 - Dec. 10, 2007
SOUTH BEND - Lucille V. Borowiak, 92, passed away on Monday, December 10, at 9:50 a.m. in Memorial Hospital. Lucille was born on September 15, 1915, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Anna (Ziokowski) Gadacz. On September 28, 1935, she married Eddie Borowiak, he preceded her in death on August 21, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John "Smoky" Gadacz and her sister, Helen Barnhart. She is survived by her children, Barbara (Mike) Sacchini of South Bend and Raymond Borowiak of Hiawassee, GA; four grandchildren, Debbie (Raymond Kane) Courtney, Dan (Dea) Sacchini, Judy Ritschard, and Cindy; seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Alexis, Thomas, John Michael (Joy), Jay, Amy and Desiree; two great-great-grandchildren, John Thomas, Bane and Kylie; and a sister, Sophie Opaczewski of South Bend; and many special nieces and nephews. Lucille was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Harvest House and the Meribelle Club. Lucy also enjoyed an exemplary marriage of 72 years to her late husband, Eddie Borowiak and the love she exuded for her family was shown in the form of extensive travel, fishing with grand- and great-grandchildren, and mushroom hunting. Lucy's gift of being a master chef was openly and warmly shared with family and friends in the form of Friday Fish Frys and Home-Style Polish meals. She was as kind, warm, and loving as a human being can be. She was living proof human beings can ascend to sainthood. She will be sorely missed by all who were blessed enough to know and love her. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 14, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, at 10 a.m. in ST. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucille's name may be directed to the charity of your choice. For those unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
