[N518] Jacob's intent for naturalization: Vol 2, pg 76 (1891-1906); appeared May 1 1888 in St Joseph County Circuit Court. Arrived in US in 1882. Witness was Marion Wesolowski and Vincent Brzezinski - dated May 2, 1896.

In the 1900 federal census for Portage Township, St. Joseph County, IN, Jacob describes himself as a "day laborer"; in 1910 he indicated working in a factory. The census also indicates that he emigrated to the US in 1882. Theodore's marriage application in 1921 shows that Jacob was born in Germany. Selma's marriage application in 1928 also confirms that Jacob from Poland. The 1910 census also indicates that Jacob and Mary had a total of 15 children, 11 of whom were still alive at that time.

On his death certificate, Jacob's name is spelled "Jakub". It lists his occupation as a "moulder" in an automobile factory. He died in his house at 8:30 A.M. of Broncho Pneumonia - Four Days Secondary Anemia Myocarditis. Jakob, Marja (his wife) and Jadwiga Rydzinski are all buried at the same location at St. Joseph Polish Cemetery in South Bend, IN.

JACOB RYDZYNSKI

Jacob Rydzynski, aged 78, of 1049 West Sample street, died at 8:30 o'clock Sunday morning in his home following an illness of two weeks. Born in Poland, July 6, 1856, he came to South Bend from that country 51 years ago. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Mary Rydzynski and nine children: Thomas, Antionette, Josephine, John, Mrs Frances Wlodarski, Joseph, Peter, Mrs. Selma Nowicki and Theodore, all of South Bend; a sister Mrs. Mary Swinski, of Akron, Oh.; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body may be viewed in the home. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock, Wednesday morning from St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Francis X Luzny, C.S.C. pastor, chanting the high requiem mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Polish Cemetery.
