SOUTH BEND - Bernice M. Nye, 99, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:30 am Saturday, June 28, 2014 at home. She was born September 3, 1914 in Buffalo, NY to the late Andrew and Stephanie (Susz) Zamorski. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Nye, on October 24, 1989; as well as her granddaughter, Jacqueline Johnston; sister, Sophie Moore; and brothers, John, Al and Charlie Zamorski. Bernice is survived by daughters, Mary Lou (Larry) Vadas-Salyers of Charlotte, NC and Barbara (Ken) Johnston of South Bend; sons, David (Penny) and Stephen (Judy) Nye, both of South Bend and Christopher (Mary) Nye of Naperville, IL, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bernice may be donated to Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or St. Matthew Cathedral.
