Mrs Anna Hoffmann nee Borostowski 76 of 2509 W Bertrand St. died at 6:35 am today in Memorial Hospital afteran illness of two weeks. She was born January 1, 1897 in Allenstein DE / Olsztyn, Poland and lived in South Bend for 61 years, comming from Germany as Anna Borostowski. On October 28, 1916 she was married in South Bend to Karl F Hoffmann. Surviving are a son Herman of South Bend and four daughters; Mrs Irma Sayers, Mrs Mildred Kristowski, and Mrs Eleanor Engtrom all of South Bend and Mrs Hilda Weaver of Lakeville, Indiana; 13 grand children, 9 great grand children and a sister Emma in Germany. Friends may call from 7 to 9 today and 2 to 4 tommorow in the Orvis Palmer Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 pmon Friday in St Pauls Lutheran Church of which she was a member. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the South Bend Civic Planning Association Mothers.

Anna came to the USA 10/16/1912 at the age of 15 (traveling alone) on the SS Cleveland from Cuxhaven, Germany to NYC .. her manifest record states she was bound to South Bend Indiana to visit her Uncle Herman Karl Kabitz who lived on Studebacker Street ... Hermans wife was Wihelmina Galinski ... who we presume was the sister of Annas mother Augusta Galinski / Galanski Galawski depending on the record your looking at .
