South Bend - Albert J. Suppinger, 99, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021. Albert was born November 28, 1921 in South Bend to the late Vincent and Mary (Arr) Suppinger. On January 25, 1947 in St. Mary's Church Albert married his loving wife Dorothy (Horwarth) Suppinger, she preceded him in death on October 7, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a son, Vincent Suppinger. Left to cherish the memory of Albert are his children, Albert V. (Pat) Suppinger, Paul (Barb) Suppinger, Annemarie (John) Pillman, Margaret (Greg) Meert, Michael Suppinger; daughter-in-law, Sue Suppinger; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Suppinger. Al was a graduate of Washington High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for South Bend Lathe for 46 years. He was active with the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master for many years. Al was a devoted family man as he spent most of his time with his family. They especially enjoyed time spent together at Shavehead Lake, which the family has owned and shared for over 70 years. His DIY skills helped build and maintain a cottage at the lake. Al loved his Canada fishing trips with his sons, relatives, and friends. He inherited his mother's baking and cooking talents of Hungarian food. Al touched many lives with his humor and talent for storytelling.
