Noel Emiel Maenhout, 73, of 60920 Crumstown Hwy., North Liberty, was dead on arrival at 8:22 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was a retired farmer. He was born Dec. 25, 1903, in Waarschoot, Belgium, and lived in the South Bend area for the last 49 years, after coming to the United States in 1911. On Sept. 29, 1928, in South Bend, he married Mary N. Thomas, who survives along with two sons, Noel E. Jr. of North Liberty and Dennis L. of South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Constance Jankowski of South Bend and Mrs. Carole A. DiSalvo of Palos Park, Ill.; eight grandchildren; two brothers; Alfred of Granger and Remie of Bremen; and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Van Driessche and Mrs. Valeria La Cluyse, both of Mishawaka. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m. Monday at the DeVos Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, using the 8th St. entrance. Maenhout was a member of the Crumstown Conservation Club.
