Constance G. Jankowski
May 28, 1932 - Nov. 16, 2012 NEW CARLISLE - Constance G. "Connie" Jankowski, 80, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. She was born on May 28, 1932, to the late Noel E. and Mary N. (Thomas) Maenhout Sr. in North Liberty, Indiana, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Noel Maenhout Jr. On December 2, 1950, as Constance G. Maenhout, she married John Jankowski at Saint Joseph Church in South Bend. He died on January 16, 1996. Connie is survived by two daughters, Denise (Glenn) Hammerquist of South Bend, Indiana, Kelley Jankowski of South Bend, Indiana; a son, John (Judy) Jankowski of Annandale, Virginia; six grandchildren, Ian, Lisa and Eric Sienicki, Katie (Chris) Fannon and Jeff Jankowski, and Zane Sanders; a great-grandson, Dylan Wilkes; a sister, Carole (Joe) DiSalvo of Downers Grove, Illinois; a brother, Dennis (Karen) Maenhout of North Liberty, Indiana; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Maenhout of South Bend, Indiana. Connie graduated from Greene Township High School and played the accordion while there. Early in her life, she worked as a secretary at South Bend Supply, and then later provided primary office assistance to her husband in their business, John's Backhoe Service. She also spent a number of years working as a demonstrator for the Eckrich Company. Connie enjoyed playing card and dice games, and attending youth sporting events, but her favorite pastime was being with her family; she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends, many of whom she made while living at Hamilton Communities during the past eight years. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, Indiana, with Pastor Sam Barrington officiating.
