Obituary from p. 13 of the 22 DEC 1956 edition of the “South Bend Tribune”:
Mrs. Sophia Radecki, 1719 Marquette Blvd., died in St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital, Chicago, at at 6:45 p.m. Friday after a prolonged illness. Born in South Bend May 1, 1883, she had lived here all her life. Surviving are three daughters, Sister M. Perseverance, Kankakee, Ill., and Sister Mary Grace, Chicago, both of the Sisters of Nazareth Congregation, and Mrs. Clementine Henclewski, South Bend; four sons, Walter, Leo, Bernard and Stephen, all of South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Valeria Budzinski and Mrs. Agnes Walewski; a brother, John Smigielski, all of South Bend; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stanislaus' Catholic Church with Rev. Sigmund A. Jankowski, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Polish Cemetery. Mrs. Radecki was a member of the Precious Blood Society, the Apostleship of Prayer and the Nocturnal Adoration Society, all of St. Stanislaus' Church.
