NILES - Anthony L. Molica, Sr., 95, of Niles passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his home. Anthony was born on May 14, 1919 to Rosario and Nancy Molica in Michigan City, IN. On April 29, 1950 he married Betty Blanchard at a ceremony in Niles. Anthony was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He lived a good life and loved his family. Anthony loved bowling, deer hunting, and sports. In high school he played football, basketball and track, earning all-conference in football and making it to state in track. Anthony went on to play football at Michigan State University. He was a Notre Dame fan and loved talking about football, especially about when he played at MSU. Anthony was very giving of his time and loved watching his grandkids play sports and spoiling them. He also loved carpentry and built his own home. Anthony worked at Kawneer for 37 years and retired from Modineer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty; daughter, Minta (John) Hayford; son, Anthony (Roxanne) Molica, Jr.; brothers, Frank (Shirley) Molica, Alfred (Jackie) Molica and Ben Molica; sisters, Fannie Probst and Mary Curtis; sisters-in-law, Emily Molica and Marlene Molica; and grandchildren, Justin Molica, Brittney Molica, Nicholas Hayford and Matt Hayford. Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Phillip, Henry and Robert, and two sisters, Nicolette and Jenny. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Niles, MI with Father David Otto officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. the night of visitation.
