MISHAWAKA - Marion H. Van Tornhout, 85, passed away on Friday, April 3, at Sprenger Health Care, Mishawaka. Marion was born on September 8, 1929, in Stockbridge, MI, as the daughter of Joseph and Mary (DeRoo) Vandervelt, who preceded her in death along with a sister, Josephine Byers. On October 5, 1950, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, she married Charles Van Torn-hout; after 61 years of marriage he preceded her in death on May 19, 2012. Marion is survived by her children: Reni (Karen) Van Tornhout of Mishawaka, Michael (Deborah) Van Tornhout of Edwards-burg, MI, Christine (Wayne) Abke of Caldwell, TX, and Charles (Cynthia) Van Tornhout of South Bend; 11 grandchildren: Renee, Sandra, Brett, Rachel, Timothy, Carrie, Charles J., Tracey, Jaleena, Cory and Ariell, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grand-children; and sisters, Virginia Mroz of Killeen, TX, and Jane Jackson of Sun City, AZ. Marion and Charles owned and operated Van Tornhout Masonry and Builders for 35 years. After retirement Marion and Charles wintered in Florida and Texas. She was a true loving mother and grandmother and will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7th, from 12:00 2:00 pm in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm in the funeral home, with Rev. Barry England officiating.
