Mrs. Patricia A. Short, 59, of 6658E CR-150N, Mill Creek, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at 2:40 a.m. at home. She was born Oct. 9, 1942, in East Chicago, Ind., to John and Cecelia (Bialotta) Mikula. She lived here for 7½ years, coming from Merrillville. Mrs. Short was a master weaver and owner of Creative Weavery Studio in Mill Creek. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a longtime member of and past president of the Duneland Weavers Guild. She was a 1960 graduate of Merrillville High School. On Aug. 26, 1961, in Merrillville, she married Donald M. Short, who survives. Also surviving are her parents of Mill Creek; one daughter, Christy A. of Valparaiso; one son, Timothy D. of Mill Creek; one sister, Maxine Schafer of Grand Junction, Colo.; and one brother, James Mikula of Rensselaer, Ind. A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. George Vrabely officiating. Friends may call at Essling Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., and 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and St. Anthony’s Hospice, St. Anthony Hospital, Crown Point, Ind.
