South Bend -- Robert A. LaCluyze,73, of Byron Drive, died at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital. Mr. LaCluyze was a former Studebaker Corp. and retired Cass Hudson Co. He was born Aug. 15, 1917 in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On Nov. 12, 1938, in South Bend, he married Elizabeth M. Rodman. She survives with two daughters, Susan M. Abel of South Bend and Elizabeth L. LaCluyze of South Bend; two sons, Paul R. of South Bend and Keith E. of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Julianna Graul, Margaret Badiak, and Elsie VanDewalle, all of South Bend. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, American Legion Post 303, was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, was active in Batell Center, Mishawaka, and was a veteran of World War II. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Han-DeVos Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Meals on Wheels.
