Michael Paul Schmanski, loving husband, father, and grandfather, 59, of South Bend, Indiana passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Michael was born on October 28, 1949, in South Bend to Raymond P. and Geraldine (Golichowski) Schmanski. Michael retired in 2004 from Olinger Distributing Company and the former LaSalle Liquors as a warehouse manager. On September 30, 1978, Michael married Anna Marie Bordner who survives. Surviving with his wife of 30 years are his sons, Michael Paul (Adrienne) Schmanski II of South Bend, Nicholas Anthony (Walida) Schmanski of South Bend; his mother, Geraldine Schmanski of South Bend; grandchildren, Michael Lance & Margaret Lynn Schmanski; and his brother, Thomas Daniel Schmanski of South Bend. Michael graduated from LaSalle High School in 1967 and from the Indiana University School of Business in 1971. He loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He also loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. He was a member of ZB Falcons Nest 80 and the ZB Falcons Conservation Club. Michael will be greatly missed by his family. Cremation has taken place. Upon his request there will be no services. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
