Felix Varda was a World War 1 veteran. He enlisted in the Army September 5, 1918 and was discharged July 16, 1919.

Felix Varda, 85, of 325 West St, died at 7:17 am Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. Born on Sept. 29, 1895, in Biwabik, Minn, he had lived in Mishawaka since 1919. On June 26, 1923, be married Celeste C. Van Driessche in St. Bavo's Catholic Church. She died on May 15, 1977. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Stockbridge of Granger, Mrs. Mary Webber and Mrs. Norma Spychalski both of Mishawaka and Mrs. Catherine Bashore of Dowagiac; six sons, Roy of Wyckoff, NJ., Ernest of Greenbelt, Md., James of Osceola, Lawrence of South Bend, Lester of Niles and Joseph of Mackinaw, ID.; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Lardenoit of Norway, Mich, Mrs. Elizabeth De Roeck of Gladstone, Mich, Mrs. Catherine Dellagnese of Hamilton Lakes, Mich. and Mrs. Mary Tennerman of Waukegon, Ill; 40 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 pm today at the Hahn-Peffley-DeVos Funeral Chape. Services will be at 10 am Tuesday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, where Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, the former pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Fairvlew Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm today in the funeral home. He retired from Uniroyal, Inc in 1960, after working there for 35 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Bavo's a veteran of World War I and a member of Elkhart Barracks 750. Memorial contributions may be made to Sister Anna's class at St. Bavo's.
