Joseph Farkas, 55, of 1153 N. Olive Street, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after an illness of eight months. He had been an employee of the Bendix Corp. for 27 years. Born on Oct. 6, 1910, in South Bend, he married Thelma Rynearson on June 21, 1930, in Michigan City. She survives, with two sons, Joseph Jr., and Richard, both of Eau Claire, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. John Melton of Mishawaka, and Beverly and Vicki, both at home; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Catherine Farkas of South Bend; three brothers, Stephen of Ann Arbor, Mich., Julius of Kalamazoo, and Louis of South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Szucs of New Carlisle. Friends may call ater 7 p.m. Monday at the Rickey Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Edward S. Vaught, pastor of Epworth Memorial Methodist Church, officiating. Buriel will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
