SOUTH BEND - Beverly A. Kovacs, 76, residing in South Bend, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Golden Living Center, Mishawaka. She was born December 14, 1938, in South Bend, a daughter of the late Joseph & Thelma (Rynear-son) Farkas, and had lived in the South Bend area most of her life. She was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Bend, and retired as Assistant Director of the Energy Assistance Program with Real Services. She previously worked for Robertson's Dept. Store for 19 years, and Elder-Beerman, Elkhart, and Goodwill Industries. In 1968 in South Bend, she married Stephen Kovacs, who passed away in January 1984. Beverly is survived by her sister, Vicki (John) Acito of South Bend, and two brothers, Joseph Farkas of South Bend, and Richard Farkas of Davenport, FL. She is also survived by a very special niece, Lori Kois, and her children. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Youngs in 2002. Beverly loved Notre Dame football games, and going to the casino. She also loved attending her nieces and nephews games. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the Church. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Beverly may be offered to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614; or to St. Joseph Church, 226 N. Hill St., South Bend, IN 46617.
