Helen M. Szymkowiak, 82, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday morning, April 16th, in her residence. Helen was born on February 22, 1924, in South Bend to the late Grant and Jessie (Fisk) Bensley. On April 30, 1949, in South Bend, She married Casimer Szymkowiak, he preceded her in death on January 28, 1972. Helen is survived by her five children: Sandra (Jerry) Walker of New Carlisle, Indiana, Rosemary (Donald) Fox of South Bend, Richard (Debra) Szymkowiak of South Bend, Linda Szymkowiak of South Bend, and Michael Szymkowiak also of South Bend. Helen is also survived by seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, along with one brother, James Bensley, of Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services for Helen will be held in the funeral chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19th, with one hour of visitation prior to service. Officiating the service will be Jim Fisko. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend.
