SOUTH BEND - Robert F. Sepanek, 91, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, South Bend. Mr. Sepanek was born on July 4, 1923 in South Bend to the late Frank and Bernice (Rybacki) Sepanek. He has lived in South Bend all of his life. On October 30, 1946 in Plymouth, he was united in marriage to Marjorie M. Blake. Along with his loving wife, Marjorie, survivors include their son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Perla Sepanek of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, Nubia, and Leila; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Lorraine Donovan of South Bend; Marjorie's brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sharon Blake of Rolling Prairie; and many nieces and nephews. One son, Bryan Sepanek, preceded his father in death on November 2, 2009. Mr. Sepanek retired in 1988 after 14 years of employment as the Director of Foreign Shipping at A.M. General. He was a longtime member of St. Jude's Catholic Church where he served on many committees. Mr. Sepanek was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude's Golf League, Chippewa Golden Gang, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and a volunteer at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War with the United States Army. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at St Jude's Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to Mass at church. A private burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Robert F. Sepanek may be donated to St. Jude's Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend, IN 46614. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
