SOUTH BEND - Mary "Alice" Wentland, 80, passed away on Saturday in Healthwin Specialized Care. She is survived by her four children, Beverly (Mark) Daugherty of South Bend, Susan Gerrish of Greenwood, IN, James (Deb) Wentland of Walkerton and Marcia (Chris) Wagner of Granger; and by her sister, Lucille Budny of South Bend. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home.

SOUTH BEND - Mary "Alice" Wentland, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 2:30 a.m. in Healthwin Specialized Care. Mary was born on December 8, 1929, in South Bend. On October 18, 1947, she married Bernard S. Wentland, who passed away on July 25, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Louis Meijer. She is survived by her four children, Beverly (Mark) Daugherty of South Bend, Susan Gerrish of Greenwood, IN, James (Deb) Wentland of Walkerton and Marcia (Chris) Wagner of Granger, IN; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Lucille Budny of South Bend. Mary enjoyed playing bingo and bowling. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for the family. She especially loved making her secret recipe chicken noodle soup; it was so secret, she took it to the grave with her! The family would like to thank the staff at West One at Healthwin Specialized Care. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northhampton, MA 01061-0515; or to the COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave., Suite 302, Miami, FL 33133.
