SOUTH BEND - Eleanore E. De Later, 82, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:33 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in Memorial Hospital. Eleanore was born on December 7, 1926, in South Bend to Zigmund and Theresa (Zyski) Cichowicz, and was a lifelong resident. She retired on February 1, 1989, from RACO, where she was employed for 39 years. On November 19, 1966, in South Bend, she married Robert H. De Later, who survives. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Patricia (Mike) Bittles of Omaho, NE and Christine (Peter) McCollum of South Bend, IN; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta Garis and her brother, Ronald Cichowicz. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. on Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Eleanore was a member of Holy Cross Parish and the American Legion Pulaski Post #357 Ladies Auxiliary.
