ELKHART - Marylou Szucs, 75, of Elkhart, passed away following a brief illness Friday, Aug.18, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 20, 1941, in Mishawaka, to the late Herbert and Elmina (Kiester) Peffley and later married Antal (Tony) Szucs in Elkhart on Sept. 24, 1960, and they had nearly 57 wonderful years together. Also surviving are children Toni “Kay” Harney and Michael (Ylonda) Szucs, both of Elkhart, and Tracey (Joe) Hyde and Tanya Winslow, both of Goshen; her sister, Kathryn (Mark) Snyder of Elkhart; grandchildren Eric, Jordan, Brittany, Kiesha, Dustin, Jacob, Luke, Megan, Kaylin, Christopher and Katelyn; and great-grandchildren Kaison, Kasey and Leilani. Two sisters, Ramona Stauffer and Veronica Asher, preceded her in death.
In accordance with her wishes, Marylou is to be cremated then a celebration of life memorial service will be at daughter Kay’s home at 3219 Peoria St. in Elkhart at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. Marylou worked many years at Elkhart General Hospital as a nurse’s aide, but will be best remembered for being a dedicated and loving mom and grandma. Her children and grandchildren always came first, and she enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. She was also an avid seamstress and enjoyed doing all sorts of crafts. During her free time, she loved to play bingo and visit the Blue Chip and the Four Winds casinos. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Marylou Szucs Memorial Fund, c/o her daughter Tanya Winslow.
