Mr. John F. Conjalka, 91, of 231 S.W. 18th Ave., Pompano Beach, Fla., and formerly of the LaPorte County area, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at 2:50 p.m. LaPorte County time at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Rolling Prairie to Ludwik (Louis) and Catherine (Golumb) Conjalka, and had lived in Pompano Beach since 1962, coming from South Bend.Mr. Conjalka had been an assembler and delivery person at Studebaker Corp. in South Bend. He was a member of St. Coleman's Catholic Church in Pompano Beach.In South Bend, he married Velma Kertai, who died Jan. 8, 1985.Also preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Stella Hill; and five brothers, Stanley, Walter, Frank, Carl and Joseph. Surviving are his stepmother, Sophie Conjalka Wozniak of LaPorte; two sisters, Joan Wozniak of Rolling Prairie and Helen Angyal of Saugany Lake/Rolling Prairie; and two brothers, Rudolph of LaPorte and Michael of Palm Bay, Fla. A funeral Mass will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Friends may call at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 5 p.m.; and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 130 Bach St., LaPorte, IN 46350.
