Michael R. Nowak, 68, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away, on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. He was born December 21, 1952 in South Bend, Indiana, to Walter Nowak and Patricia Czosnowski, who precede him in death. Michael grew up in South Bend and worked as a project engineer. He was united in marriage to Julie Hotop, who survives, on December 29, 1979 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. He was a lifetime Cubs fan and an IU Basketball fan. Michael was an avid walker who would often log three miles per day in any kind of weather. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Katie Nowak; his son, Chris (Kristi) Nowak; his three much-loved grandchildren, Izzy, Eli, and Addie; and his sisters, Kathy Ciula and Debbie (John) Lukowski, many nieces and nephews; and his stepmother, Pat Nowak. Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Nowak. A celebration of life will be held in the summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
