SOUTH BEND - Marlene A. Rakowski, 81, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 1:25 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Marlene was born on June 30, 1933 to Louis A. and Stella (Klosinski) Buczynski, and was a lifelong resident. She had been the owner of the Loading Dock Gift Shop in South Bend, retiring in 1992. On April 7, 1956, in St. Hedwig Church, she married Ralph S. Rakowski, who survives. Also surviving are her two daughters, Kathy (Corey) Noland of South Bend, Indiana and Karen (Don) Stoner of Mattawan, Michigan; her son, Michael (Patti) Rakowski of Niles, Michigan; four grandchildren, Abby Stoner, Zachary Stoner, Lauren Rakowski, and Alex Noland; one sister, Debbie (Roy) Leath of Decatur, Michigan; and one brother, Donald L. (Deanna) Buczynski of Granger, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 in St. Jude Church. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Monday in St. Jude Church. Marlene was a member of St. Jude Parish for 14 years and had been a member of St. John the Baptist Parish for 40 years. Marlene loved Sanibel Island. She enjoyed walking the beach and collecting sea shells. She loved her grandchildren. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Church. To send online condolences, please visit Kaniewski.com.
