SOUTH BEND, IN - Georgianna G. Cholaj, 95, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, March 4, 2021 after a brief illness. Georgianna was born August 16, 1925 to the late Joseph and Julia Wentland. On September 11, 1948 Georgianna married John J. Cholaj; he preceded her in death on June 5, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Wentland; sister, Irene Wegenka; and son-in-law, Frederick Boynton. Left to cherish the memory of Georgianna are her children, Jacquelyn Boynton of South Bend, Gwendolyn (James) Hodge of Sun Lakes, AZ, and Ronald (Alice) Cholaj of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren, Ryan Hodge of South Bend, Bethany (Steven Bowley) Hodge of Chicago, IL, and Brian (Hana) Boynton of Cumming, GA; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Georgianna was a long-standing parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and a member of the Holy Cross Altar Rosary Society, Christ Child Society, and Ladies Knights of Columbus Council #553. Due to the Covid-19 virus, a private service will be held for the immediate family and will be officiated by Fr. Paul Doyle, C.S.C. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Holy Cross Catholic Church, or the Christ Child Society.
