[N10281] Natalie M. Yahus
November 20, 1920 - June 20, 2006
Natalie Kopinski, 85, of South Bend, Indiana, was lifted into eternal life on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, in Hospice House, South Bend. Natalie was born on November 20, 1920, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Ilija and Anna (Biskup) Yuhas. On January 11, 1947, as Natalie Yuhas, she married Benedict (Ben) Kopinski, who survives. Along with her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Larry) Waggoner of Mishawaka; her two sons, Michael (Michele) Kopinski of Grand Rapids, Michigan and John (Lynne) Kopinski of Cleveland, Ohio; her five grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew and Andrew Waggoner and Brian and David Kopinski; her sister, Margaret Landesman of New Orleans, LA; and her brother, Frank Yuhas of South Bend. Mrs. Kopinski worked as a secretary for the University of Notre Dame for 10 years. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of Harvest House and the Forever Learning Institute. Natalie enjoyed a number of creative hobbies including quilting, sewing, and cake decorating. Her most ambitious creation was to provide each child and spouse and each grandson with a personally made quilt. Family gatherings also brightened her days; she especially loved spending time with her grandsons, attending their sporting events, following their other activities or simply visiting with them. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Thursday, June 22, 2006, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN 46628, where a combined parish and Harvest House rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, June 23, 2006, in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 State Road 933, South Bend, IN 46637, with entombment to follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Natalie's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Barbara Williams for her years of compassionate care, to the Hospice Staff for their tender assistance in her final days, as well as to the many friends and family members who have provided loving support.
