SOUTH BEND - Carrie P. Ganus, 89, passed away at 8:55 am Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in Michiana Health and Rehabilitation. Carrie was born February 26, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Walter and Clara (Koszewski) Kaminski. Carrie married Louis Ganus on September 2, 1943. He preceded her in death. Carrie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Nowak and Stella Taberski. Survivors of Carrie include her children, Carolyn (Norm Osborne) Jez of Littleton, CO, Clarice (Bob) Comeau of Mishawaka, Cynthia (Dennis) Vanata D.O. of Kissimmee, FL, Christine (Michael) Sarowski of South Bend & Constance (Tom) Van Acker of Mishawaka; sister, Genevieve Cytacki of South Bend; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Carrie was a homemaker and was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 357, Golden Cluster at St. Hedwig, and she enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. Visitation for Carrie will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, April 4, 2014, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Northern Indiana, 6100 W. 96th Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278; and the American Diabetes Association , 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311. The family would like to thank the staff at Michiana Health and Rehabilitation for their loving care and support of mother during her illness.
