Phyllis A. Peczkowski

SOUTH BEND - Phyllis A. Peczkowski, 95, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 in her home. She was born on April 20, 1918 to the late Henry and Mary (Wroblewski) Ast in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; one sister, Trudy Kurtz; and one brother, Art Ast also preceded her in death. Phyllis graduated in 1937 from South Bend Central High School. She worked at Sobonite Plastics in South Bend for 15 years. On June 9, 1945, as Phyllis A. Ast, she married Edward S. Peczkowski at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He died on November 13, 2005. Phyllis is survived by three daughters, Linda S. (Raymond, Jr.) Vanderhulst of Bloomingdale, IL; Karen A. (Jeffrey) Smith of South Bend, IN; Marilyn Gonyou Mills (David) of Lafayette, IN; 14 grandchildren, Raymond "Buddy" Vanderhulst; Michael (Anny) Vanderhulst; Michelle (Robin) Eiteljorge; Kelly (Matthew) Inman; Erin (Matt) Stout; Stephanie (Jon) Teusch; Julianna Gonyou; Vincent Gonyou; Joe Mills; Annie (Derrick) Byers; Theresa (Greg) Loyd; Claire (Ben) Morris; Sam Mills; and Jimmy Mills; nine great- grandchildren, Jack Eiteljorge, Sam Eiteljorge; Madison Diltz, Sophia Diltz, Naomh Inman; Sophia Byers, Isaac Byers, Noah Byers; Margaret Morris; and one sister, Lucille Chrzan of South Bend, IN. Phyllis was a member of Holy Cross Parish. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Mathews, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
