ARGOS - Edward J. Minarik, 94 of Riley Road, North Liberty, Indiana died on January 7, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. at Life Care Center, Rochester, Indiana where he had been in declining health for the past couple of months. He was born on October 1, 1922 in San Pierre, Indiana to Frank J. Minarik and Stephanie (Kajer) Minarik. He has lived in the North Liberty Community for the past 40 years, after living in Mishawaka, Indiana. Edward was a farmer and worked at Uniroyal/Ball Band Manufacturing in Mishawaka, Indiana were he retired in 1986. Edward was Veteran of WWII in the United States Army serving in the 3rd Battalion 318th Infantry from December 26, 1942 and on January 7, 1946 he received his Honorable Discharge. During his service he earned 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36, Rochester, Indiana; Lifetime Member of the V.F.W. Mishawaka Post 360, Mishawaka, Indiana. He was a member of the Gourd Club. Edward is survived by his Sisters - Louise Moore, of Lakeville, Indiana and Ella Lockwood of Rochester, Indiana Brother - Frank Minarik of Rochester, Indiana Many Nieces and Nephews Sister-in-Law - Dolly Minarik of Kewanna, Indiana He is preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers - George Minarik, Joseph Minarik, and Steve Minarik, Sisters - Evelyn Bascom and Barbara Baran. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday January 11, 2017 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana with Rev. Bruce Russell. Burial will follow at the Richland Center Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana with the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard, Rochester, Indiana Memorial Contribution may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society; 11165 13th Rd., Plymouth, Indiana 46563 or Fulton County Humane Society, 1540 Wentzel St., Rochester, Indiana 46975Published in South Bend Tribune on Jan. 10, 2017
