Her obituary reads, "Mrs. Sophie M. Barczykowski --- Mrs. Sophie M. Barczykowski, 76, of 512 Johnson St. died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital. She had been ill two years. She was born on May 4, 1888, in South Bend. Her husband, Adalbert, died in 1918. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Cieslik; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Frances Kaminski, all of South Bend. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rev. Sigmund A. Jankowski, C.S.C., pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. She was a member of Group 21, Daughters of Poland, Polish Women's Alliance. She was buried on 27 Mar 1965 in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana. Her Social Security Number was 314-10-5322. The SSDI record reads, "SOPHIE BARCZYKO SKA 04 May 1888 Mar 1965 (Indiana) (none specified) 314-10-5322 Indiana ."

She was also known as George Barczywski. Name used in civil records. She was also known as Sophie Barczykoska. This is the name used in the SSDI on-line. Aunt Honey says Sophie had about 13 children from Adalbert and Joe. Henrietta was 3 years of age at death; all the others except Elizabeth were still-births or died in infancy. Sophie had a tumor on the brain and died of cancer.

Note from Aunt Honey: "Aunt Sophie used beautiful perfume and had beautiful pansy hat. Loved ruffles on all dresses. Made good homemade bread and donuts."
