SOUTH BEND - Rose Marie Burkhart, 79, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the West Bend Nursing Facility surrounded by her family. Rose Marie was born November 28, 1935 in South Bend to the late Valentine and Evelyn (Sochocki) Celmer. Rose Marie is also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Doretta Burkhart. On March 22, 1952, Rose Marie married her husband, Earl Burkhart; he survives along with their children, Valerie (Michael) Versmesse of South Bend, Victoria Burkhart of South Bend, Vanessa (Daniel) Burkhart-Myers of Oldenburg, IN and Vincent Burkhart of South Bend; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob (Brittanie), Adam, Caleb (Kassandra), Wayne (Tresha), Amberli and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel, Avary, Autumn, Abigail, Giuliana, Gianni, Viviana, Ariella and Lira; brother, Timothy (Mary Ann) Celmer; and best friend, Mary Dooms. Rose Marie was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and painting stained glass windows. Rose Marie had a special place in heart for animals, especially her dog, Cookie. Visitation for Rose Marie will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in Holy Family Catholic Church with a visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, Indiana 46619.
